Books that are popular are getting their shot at the big screen more and more often. However it is a rare thing when a book series gets made into a television show. “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” is being given that opportunity by Netflix.

Netflix has created many “Netflix Originals” in the past that have been a hit. Childhood favorite books should do just as well as shows like “Orange Is The New Black,” right? The information being given out about the series is small, but it is just enough of a teaser, that makes someone sit on edge waiting for it to pop up on recently added. The series is set to be released in 2016, but the exact date is still unclear.

However a couple of the cast members have been announced, and it’s exciting. Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire) and Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire) will be two out of the three of the orphan children. Considering the third child is only a baby there is no surprise, that there is no designated actor as of now. Now, the most anticipated casting of maybe the entire series is Neil Patrick Harris (Count Olaf), there is no doubt that Harris will have a huge part in the series, and probably do a big job of bringing in fans to support the show.

Whether this show will be fully understood is unknown, in 2004 “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” released a movie, that did not go over too well. Enough people saw it to know it existed, the concept was there but the execution was not. 12 years later the hope is both execution and concept will both be present in the series along with great actors and actresses.

Netflix has taken over homes in the past couple years and released some great content, but also some not so great content. Curiosity is out there wondering how well “The Series Of Unfortunate Events” will go and if it will even attract an audience.

The books were memorable and struck curiosity in the young brains, the movie was a poor excuse of an adaptation and the Netflix series is still to be discovered. Hopefully it can regain the name of the books that the movie seemed to take away from.
