Sophomore Logan Lennon is playing his second year of varsity football, and this season has been a major step forward. Lennon led the Sequoits to a dominant 56-15 victory over rival Lakes Community High School, scoring five touchdowns, the highest number of touchdowns in a single game by any player on the team this season.
“I feel like I finally was able to accomplish what I’ve really been wanting to do as a Sequoit,” Lennon said, reflecting on running in his fifth touchdown of the night.
Lennon carried the ball 11 times, averaging an impressive 20.8 yards per attempt. This season, he’s solidified himself as a key playmaker and an essential part of the Sequoits’ offense.
Head Coach Brian Glashagel was also impressed with Lennon’s performance. “It looked like he was scoring all of his TDs on the same play against Lakes,” Glashagel said. “Each one was blocked differently and he reacted differently.”
Lennon’s quick reactions to challenges on the field are a key strength and a major factor in his standout performance.
Being an underdog is a significant part of Lennon’s personality and fuels his play style. “I think some people don’t believe that I could do things that I can do. I think that’s probably because of my age, that I’m 15 playing against mostly 17 and 18 year olds,” Lennon said.
Lennon credits much of his success to the support of his team. “My team they believe in me. They know I have a job that I’m able to do on the football team.” Lennon said. If the team doesn’t believe in him, he wouldn’t be able to produce the outcomes that we have seen.
With only a few weeks left of the Sequoits’ regular season, fans should watch for even more growth in Lennon’s game. As a sophomore, he’s just getting started and is poised to play a key role in the team’s future success
