Stanley Cup Playoffs

As the season comes to a close, the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. The Chicago Blackhawks, last years champions, took the ice Wednesday, April 13 against the St. Louis Blues.

Defense is what dominated throughout the game. Both team’s were held scoreless during regulation, which carried the game to overtime.

Chicago’s 35 shots on goal wasn’t enough to stop the Blues offense. With 9:04 left in overtime the Blues center, David Backes, slung the puck towards the net, which banked off the skate of Blackhawks defensemen Trevor Van Riemsdyk’s skate for the game winning goal.

The Hawk’s are down 1-0 in the seven game series, but they have plenty of opportunities to bounce back to move on to round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to get another chance to reclaim that trophy.
