2025 is the year for new opportunities and new challenges. An extremely popular tradition most people undertake is to create resolutions for the new year. These resolutions could include things that improve one’s habits.
At Antioch Community High School, New Year’s resolutions are being accomplished everywhere. Students throughout the school are striving to be better and it is incredible to see. A few students have shared what they think about New Year’s resolutions and what they are aiming to achieve this year.
Senior Angela Ortiz said her New Year’s resolution is, “To continue not drinking soda and to not eat candy.”
Last year Ortiz committed to not drinking soda and that her determination paid off. This year she hopes to do the same with candy.
“I want to drink more water and spend less money,” Senior Annalise Lowrance said. “I have this water bottle that tells you how much to drink per day, so I could follow that and with money, I could set limits on how much to spend.”
Senior Enza Nawrocki is also joining the health and fitness trend.
“My New Year’s resolution is to go to more yoga classes,” Nawrocki said. “I want it to become something more consistent, and I really enjoy doing it.”
Improving health has been an extremely popular New Year’s resolution for years and it is being carried onto 2025 and it is all the rage; from drinking more water, to eating less sweets, to exercising more.
Ortiz, Lowrance and Nawrocki agree that health and fitness is ranked number one on the popularity scale of New Year’s resolutions with spending less money coming in as a close second. They say that people tend to focus on losing weight, eating healthier or simply exercising more. People tend to have more home-cooked meals which hit two birds with one stone; saving money and eating healthier.
With all of these resolutions being said, there also comes a point where they actually have to be acted upon. New Year’s resolutions can be tough to sustain throughout the entire year. Ortiz, Lowrance and Nawrocki agree saying that most people are extremely motivated at the beginning of the year, but as the weeks and months progress their motivation fizzles out. A new year is exciting for everyone and it is a chance to start fresh, so when choosing a resolution it is important to focus on a resolution that is fun, attainable, creative and challenging.
Happy New Year, and happy 2025!
