The Book of Tom Tom: America’s Most Beautiful Colleges

Colleges whose sceneries are hard to pass up.

Lauryn Hugener, Lifestyles Editor

As high schoolers, it can be difficult to consider what the future holds for us. However, college can also be something exciting to think about if you choose the right place. If you’re looking for one of the most beautiful or unique colleges in America, here are some of the ones I found from all sectors of the map.

  1. The University of California Santa Barbara

The University of California at Santa Barbara is what most would consider a “dream school.” With beaches, palm trees and a glowing night sky, this school can easily be compared to vacation rather than college. Its old Spanish architecture is made modern by combining new and old elements.

  1.  Columbia University

Located in New York City, Columbia University proves to be one of the most beautiful campuses through its surroundings. Adding a dash of green to the hustle and bustle of the glowing city around it, Columbia University is a city-person’s dream.

  1. University of Alaska Fairbanks

Going to college in Alaska is certainly out there, but the area surrounding the University of Alaska Fairbanks makes up for it. The Northern Lights and raw wilderness are two characteristics that truly no other university in the United States can offer.

  1.  Kenyon College (Ohio)

Almost two centuries old, Kenyon College’s distinctive site gives it a top spot on this list. The college has a “middle of nowhere” feel, being completely surrounded and isolated from nearby towns by trees. With its plethora of forest paths that bring together greens, golds, oranges and browns, Kenyon is perfect for the outdoorsy type of person.

  1.  Sewanee: The University of the South

Although Sewanee University in Sewanee, Tennessee is small, it’s cozy. It embodies a Hogwarts-style building design and is in the middle of a forest with a small-knit community. Its seasonal change of leaves and old stone buildings are what make it one of the most uniquely beautiful colleges in America.

  1. University of Hawaii at Manoa

Hawaii is known by many to be the most beautiful of all of the 50 states. Consistent high temperatures and an ocean view are what make this school breathtaking. If you’re looking for a paradise far away from home, the University of Hawaii at Manoa is a place to consider.
