On Friday, December 15, the Sequoits will take on the Grant Bulldogs in an intense conference match-up. This is a highly anticipated match for Antioch, which will bring wrestling fans from all over the community to come support as the Sequoits look to get another win on their record. Junior wrestler Alexander Barbarise cannot wait to get on the mat Tomorrow.

“The atmosphere is always great,” Barbarise said. “It’s just a fun night in general. I’m looking forward to everyone coming together and watching some good matches.”

Barbarise is wrestling in the 120 weight class this Friday and is more than ready to bring the heat.

“I expect to leave it all out on the mat and show everyone what I trained for throughout the year,” Barbarise said. “A lot of people don’t understand how much a wrestler goes through to be good at this sport and Friday we show the school and lake county what we are made of.”

The Sequoit wrestling team has a history with the Grant Bulldogs. Every year, Grant seems to be dominant in wrestling and the Sequoits have found themselves with bad blood against Grant, making pack the place mean even more to the wrestlers this year. There are so many important things to watch this Friday as the wrestlers run out and embrace moments they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Sophomore wrestler Kyle Miller sprained a ligament in his knee earlier this season in practice but is still excited to be a part of the moment.

“I am looking forward to watching Xavier Sanchez,” Miller said. “This is going to be his first match in two years and he has a lot going for him and a lot of people want to see how he is now.”

The hype has been evident all week around the school and the Sequoits are ready to dominate the mat on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
