The varsity Sequoit dance team qualified for state with a fourth place finish at Warren Township High School this past Saturday at the IHSA 2A dance sectionals. The Sequoits had an overall strong performance finishing behind Deerfield, Lake Forest and Vernon Hills.

The dancers felt as if this was one of their least impressive performances despite their fourth place finish. They also feel that they are capable of achieving greater potential in their future performances.

“It was a difficult competition, but we’ll be on our A game this entire week and are hoping to do better at state,” senior dancer Claire Reband said.

The dance team is going to use this competition to further prepare themselves for next week at state.

“The ideal goal for the team at state would be making podium and dancing our hearts out and giving our best effort as a unit,” senior dancer Alexis Yaris said.

Catch the dance team this Friday as they continue the tradition to compete in the IHSA state dance competition.
