TOM TOM LISTS: Top 10 Valentine’s Dates for Students

Make this Valentine’s Day even sweeter with these romantic dates.

Valentine’s Day can rack up quite a debt, but it doesn’t have to be the most expensive holiday of the year. Take your lover on a thrilling adventure and warm up everyone’s’ hearts, not just each other’s.

  1. Visit as many people as possible in one night and bring them each a flower and chocolates (made by you both, of course).
  2. Create photo evidence suggesting that you went on an adventure that didn’t really occur and post it online.
  3. Go for a drive, but only turn right until you hit a dead end. Then turn around and only go left until you reach a restaurant. Have dinner there.
  4. Build forts out of pillows and blankets and have a cozy movie night inside the fort.
  5. Go to a bookstore and leave notes for future readers in your favorite books.
  6. Write a short fiction novel together at a cafe and ask strangers for help when stuck.
  7. Go on a search for the best climbing trees, and compile photo evidence from the “ground up.”
  8. Rent a movie that neither has seen before. Put it on mute and improvise the dialogue.
  9. Go ice skating on the nearest frozen pond.
  10. Have a baking party and create delicious desserts together.

Junior Jack Abernathy is excited for Valentine’s day.

“Her grandma paid for a nice dinner,” Abernathy said. “I bought her a nice necklace and earrings set.”

Sophomore Maya Schon is lending a helping hand so others can enjoy the special holiday.

“I am babysitting my neighbor’s kid so they can go do couple stuff,” Schon said. “It’s her birthday and her husband is taking her out.”

In spite of this wonderful holiday, remember that dates don’t have to be expensive. Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones that don’t cost a dime.
