TOM TOM LISTS: Top 4 Rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One of Disney’s greatest treasurers takes you into the heart of movies.

Winter break is right around the corner and many Sequoits will be headed south to the warmth. For some, winter break includes a trip to Disney. Here are some of our top picks if you manage to stop at Hollywood Studios while you’re visiting Orlando.

1. Toy Story Mania

If waiting in line for a ride inside of a board game isn’t enough excitement, then be prepared for a thrill of a lifetime. This speedy, two-sided, four-person car is not only extremely action packed, but may give someone with good aim incredible bragging rights.

With every twist and turn riders are put to the test. The goal is to shoot as many targets as they can in about 10 seconds and before they know it are amongst another challenge. By the dreaded end of Toy Story Mania, all the target point values will have been added up, allowing only one person (two people per car) to hold the winning title.

This is certainly a ride to fast pass, but waiting in the unique set up is also fun. This ride, however, isn’t one you’d be able to fast pass the day of at the park. You’ll probably need to upload your tickets to the Disney app in advance and try to snag your spot.

2. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

This particular ride goes from zero to sixty real quick.

Despite the impressive fact that this ride is the fastest at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster does not just take the passenger on a stereotypical fast amusement park ride. Each and every person who steps foot into the waiting line is taken to a quick detour before they get to experience a rock ‘n’ time. Hollywood Studios lets the riders experience a short (seamlessly real-life) Aerosmith jam session.

Next, they are headed to best part: the ride. After take off, each two person car is taken into complete darkness. Intense, body pumping, music accompanies the darkness and occasional glowing road signs as passengers are taken up, down, and upside-down through the streets of Hollywood, California.

This ride has a long wait, so fast pass it if you can.

3. The Tower of Terror

Yes, terror is in the title, and, yes, it might be a little scary.

This ride is a unique experience fashioned after the old television and radio show, “The Twilight Zone.” For many, this ride provides a heart-pounding experience of being dropped in an elevator to an unknown fate. For some, this is a ride full of laughs and animation.

Make sure to take in the scenery and let yourself be a little scared.

Be prepared, the line is usually always long.

4. The Great Movie Ride

This is a classic.

Inspired by a variety of award-winning films, take a trip through the movies and explore what it might have been like to be a part of a famous scene.

While this ride is lengthy, it is worth the trip. Make sure to watch line times on the Disney app, however. Sometimes the wait can be a little excessive for a ride that doesn’t really have that many thrills.

WARNING: Heart rate may increase throughout the duration of these rides. However, do not panic, this simply means way too much fun is being had.
