Action Bronson’s latest album, Mr. Wonderful, features a collaboration with Chance the Rapper

The collaboration between New York rapper, Action Bronson, and Chicagoan of the Year, Chance the Rapper, was a match made in heaven. The track was released March 2, but fans of both rappers are still listening to it. It has been named Action’s best song by many of his fans. The Mark Ronson produced beat perfectly blends with both Action’s almost old school style of rapping and Chance’s seemingly rambling flow. The song has a very feel-good melody to it, even though the lyrics are exactly the opposite of uplifting. The track tells the story of a girl Bronson had a relationship with that turned sour. The girl started to become very mistrusting, even though Bronson had been incredibly faithful. The lyric “Girl, we grown, stop playing on my phone, baby. All your childish attempts to make me angry fall short. Which only fuels the rage you have, because you have nothing”, shows how Bronson’s partner started looking through his phone to see if he was cheating, and she would get even more enraged when she found nothing.

Bronson explained the song to Complex Magazine; “____ you, you can’t ____ with me. I’m moving on to bigger and better things. You broke my heart, this and that, it’s time to move on. I’ma show you through this beautiful music and horn presentation.”

Chance’s verse has the same feel, only he is incredibly direct in his lyrics. He disses the girl with his hopes for her life, the only problem is they are not positive wishes. He says things like, “I hope the zipper on your jacket get stuck, And your headphones short, and your charger don’t work.” The song is a perfect combination of anger at a significant other through the lyrics surrounded by uplifting instrumentals. You can listen to the track on Spotify and Soundcloud in Bronson’s album, Mr. Wonderful.
