Trying new fall activities

Fall is the season where people love to go to corn mazes, pumpkin patches and stay indoors. Although, it is also an opportunity to try new things.

Fall is the season where people love to go to corn mazes, pumpkin patches and stay indoors. Although, it is also an opportunity to try new things.

As people get older they tend to grow out of the “childish” activities such as carving pumpkins and instead the fall season is when teenagers tend to fall in love with October due to the food, drinks and fashion aspects. There are a lot of things that make fall a fan favorite. Common activities that keep the fall spirit alive are apple picking, going to haunted houses, pumpkin patches and corn mazes.

Around this time of year it is more common to stay indoors and be cozy all day since the weather is getting chillier in Illinois.

“My favorite thing about fall is that I feel like it’s the time that you can start being a hermit,” English teacher Samantha Kenya said. “I feel less guilty not going out as much.”

Seasonal changes can be a difficult time for some, especially for the majority of people who adapted to summer routines and the warmer weather. Reminiscing about the warmth is normal, trying to enjoy the season changes might be a way to help ease the seasonal emotions.

According to Oprah Daily there are many different things to do around this time of year that are not always that common but great for adventuring out. Things such as horseback riding, hiking and running a 5K can be a great way to soak up the outdoor fall views.

Keeping busy and staying active around this time of year can be difficult mostly because of the cold weather. Most people tend to get more tired and cooped up because the weather is not as nice. Bundling up in an appropriate fall outfit and going outside is another way to keep fun in the fall.

“I like going to pumpkin patches or walking my dogs so I can see the trees changing colors,” senior Mackenzie Carly said.

Dog walking can be another fun thing to do around this time of year to soak up all the seasonal changes that Illinois brings.

Whether people prefer to stay inside or go out more around this time of year there are a lot of different activities to do to enjoy the festive fall season. Trying something new this fall can also branch into new traditions.
