Billie Eilish was one of the multiple celebrities who tried out a new look. Although it is similar to her gender-neutral style, she also added sequins.

The Grammy Awards premiered on January 26, 2020. The red carpet was filled with a variety of fashion looks, including some that were arguably questionable.

Billie Eilish, who took home five Grammys, wore an oversized green and black embellished Gucci outfit. This outfit is similar to her typical gender-neutral fashion style, yet she added some surprising twists like a black mask, fingerless gloves and bright green Gucci themed nails.

Based off of his popular song “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X showed up wearing a head-to-toe hot pink cowboy outfit. This included two belts, a harness, silk scarves, cowboy boots, cowboy hat and a leather jacket— all of which were hot pink. He also paired the outfit with gold jewelry.

Bringing extra to a whole new level, Billy Porter was covered in crystal fringes, along with a disco themed turquoise jumpsuit. One of the main accessories that stole the show was his mechanically engineered turquoise hat, which opened and closed crystal fringes on command. According to an Instagram poll, this was the fan favorite.

Although Joy Villa had worn a similar political-based outfit, this one still received major attention. Villa was dressed in a red, low-cut mermaid dress with large white letters across her body, which spelled out “TRUMP 2020.” She paired this with a long white and blue coat, which had stars near the sleeves. Finally, she wore a large red feather in her hair.

Similar to Villa’s look, Megan Pormer also wore a politics-based outfit. Pormer wore a long red sequin strapless dress, which had a large cut on the right side. The twist is with the black letters on her dress, which spelled out “NO WAR IRAN” and a cape that had both the American and Iranian flag.

Both of these political looks were the most shocking to Senior Felipe Winkler, compared to the rest of the outfits mentioned.

“I feel like [political outfits] are unneeded,” Winkler said.

Although all of these looks may be considered very eye-catching, District 117 substitute teacher Bob Staudt believes that this is normal because celebrities want to out shock each other.

“Whoever has the most shocking outfit will be remembered the most,” Staudt said.

According to an Instagram poll, the majority of people were against all of the outfits mentioned. Nonetheless, the 2020 Grammy Awards brought new, wild and controversial outfits.
