Underground Artist: El Ten Eleven

Meet the unique music duo who creates cinematic and underrated anthems.

The idea of an instrumental rock band with only two members seems impossible. But guitarist, bassist and composer Kristian Dunn and drummer Tim Fogarty made that idea a reality.

The duo named El Ten Eleven uses technology like looping pedals, a double necked guitar and bass. They also incorporate a unique drum set that has both acoustic and electric drums.

They started playing together in Los Angeles and released their first album in 2004. Even though they only have a small underground following, they have released a total of 6 full length albums, one EP and one remix album — all found on Spotify.

Their music is interesting because of the various genres they combine. From a range of hard rock, funk and punk, El Ten Eleven somehow meshes these genres to make great songs like the ten minute long, almost “cinematic”, experience titled “Transitions”.

They are worth listening to because of their artistic style that you have to experience to understand. As part of their upcoming tour, El Ten Eleven is scheduled to come to Chicago on Oct. 2.
