The gun goes off, time is ticking, and senior Rachel Price runs past her competition. For the past six years, Price has ran as a hobby.

“I’ve always liked to run,” Price said. “For the past couple of years, I’ve ran 5k’s and things like that before actually joining track here.”

Despite only officially running for two years, Price was able to achieve her goal of improving her mile time drastically.

“I’ve become faster and stronger since sophomore year when I first joined track,” Price said. “My goal was to get my mile time underneath seven minutes, and with a lot of work, I was able to get there. I’ve learned a lot about how to pace myself, and converse my energy when I’m running.”

Completing her goal that she’s had since the beginning of her time as a Varsity runner, Price looks forward to continuing her track career onto the college level. Having come a long way from running for her own enjoyment to running for sport, running has been an important piece of Price’s life for the past six years. Price has dedicated a lot of her time to the sport of running; which for her has paid off.
