Carmel Catholic traveled from Mundelein to Antioch for volleyball’s first game of the season. Unfortunately, after a close battle in the first two sets, the Sequoits fell short in the third, causing them to lose the game.

“I feel pretty good despite losing; we had a number of good rallies, we had positive energy for the majority of the time, and the plays that we have been practicing over the past few weeks worked well,” senior John Ware said. “I’m really excited for the rest of the season; I think we have a really solid group of guys.”

The scores were very close throughout each set of the game. In the third set, the Sequoits battled until the Corsairs won 31-29.

Coach Jamie Atkinson was very proud of the efforts put forth by the team despite the outcome.

It is only the beginning of the season. The team is already preparing for the next game on Thursday, April 4. They will play North Chicago at home where they hope to come out even stronger towards their first victory.
