Writers Week to Return to ACHS

Event encourages students to hone writing, everyday communication skills.

Every year after spring break, Antioch Community High School hosts Writers Week, which gives students the chance to hear from professionals in the writing industry. Organized by the ACHS English department, it is designed as a celebration of a simple form of communication we use every day.

Over the course of the week, writers and students will work with music, poetry and writing in general. Students also can attend workshops hosted by the professionals.

“Whether it’s just inspiring you to enter a writing profession someday or just hone your skills in the classroom or even in professional possible emails, it’s a unique and amazing opportunity,” English teacher Kelly Taylor said.

Even though the deadline for workshops during Writers Week have already passed, students can look forward to the possibility of signing up next year. This year, it will take place from March 29 to April 1.
