Young Chicago Authors will be visiting Antioch Community High School on Tuesday, March 31 in the auditorium during 3rd and 4th period, and leading a classroom workshop during 6th. They will have the winner of Louder Than a Bomb, which is the largest youth poetry slam, come in and perform some of their work that won them the LTB and talk about how they won LTB and what their inspiration was for doing so. In YCA’s classroom workshop, the winners will be working directly with students and giving prompts, tips, and recommendations for how to get started in creative writing.

YCA is an organization that helps youth interested in creative writing pursue their dreams by hosting workshops and poetry slams in the Chicago area. They have grown from a small classroom workshop over the summer with few students enrolled to 5,000 students across Chicago. The workshops hosted by YCA engages youth in creating stories through spoken verse, journalism, playwriting, fiction and many other ways.

All spots in both the YCA’s auditorium performances and workshop have been filled.
