1. PANAMA PAPERS ACCUSE WORLD LEADERS OF TAX EVASION

The massive data leak details the actions of Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian company that specializes in diverting funds to offshore locations. Leaders in Russia, Great Britain, Iceland, Saudi Arabia and dozens of other countries may be tied to the company. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists leaked over 11 million documents on Sunday.

2. MAN HIJACKS EGYPTIAN PLANE

An EgyptAir flight was diverted to Cyprus last Tuesday after a man who appeared to be wearing a suicide belt took control of the plane. A six-hour standoff followed, during which no passengers were injured. The man surrendered after releasing all hostages and taking pictures with a handful of daring passengers.

3. WRITERS WEEK VISITS ACHS ONCE AGAIN

The English department’s annual week of guest speakers was this past week. Journalists, poets, musicians and actors all visited Antioch to speak to students and perform pieces, as well as lead smaller workshops with some students.

4. ARMED MAN ON CAPITOL HILL

A single armed man attempted to enter the Capitol Visitor Center on Monday. The man, who has previously had incidents in Washington, was shot once his weapon was drawn. One bystander was hurt, and the Capitol went into lockdown.

5. FINAL FOUR LEAVES NORTH CAROLINA, VILLANOVA ALIVE

All but two of the 68 teams in the NCAA tournament have been eliminated after Villanova University defeated Oklahoma University in a blowout and the University of North Carolina beat Syracuse University. The tournament championship is this Monday night.

6. TRUMP COMMENTS UPSET VOTERS

Republican front-runner Donald Trump admitted Sunday that the past week has not been his best. He dodged questions all week after suggesting that women and doctors should be punished for having abortions, and has been adding fuel to his feud with rival Ted Cruz over their respective wives. Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary is a must-win for both candidates.

7. EVENTFUL WEEK FOR PRINCIPALS

Principal Bradford Hubbard passed his dissertation for his doctorate on Thursday. The band played a surprise performance for him in the commons the next morning. Later that day, Assistant Principal Omar Rodriguez announced that he would be moving to Madison, Wisconsin, to expose his children to the city.

8. TESLA ANNOUNCES MODEL 3

The electric vehicle giant held a press event on Thursday to showcase their new vehicle, the Model 3. While the car will not be available for another year and a half, its $35,000 price tag and mass production may mark the beginning of a shift in the automotive industry to electric vehicles.

9. USA SOCCER PLAYERS DEMAND EQUAL PAY

Five members of the world champion women’s team filed suit against the U.S. Soccer Federation last week. They are often paid between half and a quarter of what their male counterparts get, despite making tens of millions of dollars more for the Federation.

10. FBI DROPS LAWSUIT AGAINST APPLE

The government abruptly dropped their lawsuit against Apple last week. The FBI and Apple have been warring for months over a locked phone that a San Bernardino terrorist used. The FBI appears to have accessed the information they wanted through an alternative method and are offering the method to local law enforcement agencies across the country.
