Julia Murillo celebrates after scoring first goal goal of two against Homewood-Flossmoor

Despite the heat and slow first half the girls powered through and finished the job by shutting out the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings 2-0 with both goals by junior Julia Murillo. The lady Sequoits came out playing hard, strong, and fast. Yet, the team started to struggle, making it a difficult first half.

“Well in the first half we didn’t talk much,” sophomore Ashley Hradisky said. “We were slow to the ball and not going after it just waiting for it to come to us, but the other team would run after it and get the ball. We also weren’t catching the ball and releasing it right away. We let ourselves [play] to the other team’s level of playing when we know we could do better.”

The second half was when the ladies started to click. Making better passes and communicating more played a major role in this Sequoit victory. All of the team contributing to the two goals scored and shutting out the Vikings. Field Hockey is now on a three game winning streak.

“It is pretty awesome to be on a three game winning streak because when we win we build our confidence and it helps our motivation as a team to keep going for the next win,” Hradisky said.

The team plans to keep adding to their winning streak and trumping any team in their way.
