The Antioch varsity girls golf team played against Lakes Community High School yesterday at Hickory Knoll Golf Course. The eagles were able to come out victorious in the crosstown matchup with a final score of 178.

The Sequoits were able to persevere and played well throughout the course, securing five medals for the team. Junior Samantha Brown placed first for Antioch with a score of 38 and sophomore Emily Pedersen shot a score of 50.

“My chipping is off today, but you can’t win them all,” Brown said.

Lakes student Emily Christensen shot on the course and earned herself a score of 54.

“I realized that every course is challenging in its own unique way and I can’t wait to see Antioch again at regionals,” Christensen said.

Taylor Comer also chipped in on hole two for bogey and finished with a final score of 52.

“Going in I felt like it was anyone’s match,” Comer said. “ We all played to the best of our abilities, and I’m so proud that five of us, including myself, got medals.”

The girls have their next match on Wednesday against Grayslake Coop.
