Junior Karina Steitz goes after a ball from a game earlier this season.

The Sequoits field hockey team played a tough game the other night and came out on top with a score of 1-0, scoring in the last minute and eight seocnds of the game. The girls played a strong game and pushed the ball quickly, but did not get take enough shots. Sophomore Sarah Smith believes the team did not finish once they got to the goal.

“Finishing is our main focus as a team,” Smith said. “We are a very good team when we play well, but the outcome doesn’t always reward us because we are unable to score majority of the time.”

The girls hustled hard and were able to steal the ball and create movement on the field because of their desire to win. The only goal of the game was scored by junior Carrie Miller with the assist from senior Deighton ButenschoenThe team plans on working on their communication skills for the rest of this season to hopefully continue winning.

“As a team we need to communicate better and work together more on the defensive end of the field,” Smith said.

Wish the girls luck on their next game as they take on Evanston at the stadium on October 3 at 4:30pm.
