The boys varsity basketball team competed against Round Lake High School on Saturday, January 13. With a strong starting lineup, the boys kept a lead the entire game.

In the first quarter, things were moving slowly as the Sequoits tried to put up points but with Round Lake’s defense, it was difficult. Towards the middle of the first quarter, the Sequoits picked it up and began to utilize their offense, ending the quarter with a score of 9-7.

The second quarter is when the Sequoits began to work as one unit and eventually gained a bigger lead going into halftime with a score of 32-22.

In the second half of the game, the Sequoits lengthened the gap and continued to stay in the lead over the Panthers.

Although the team played exceptionally well, there is still plenty of skills they are working on to continue towards their goals.

“The team played very well, but with some more improvements we can play even better,” junior and varsity player Robert Christiansen said.

A couple highlights of the game was junior Dan Filippone putting up 27 points and junior Jack Gillespie putting up seven. Senior Andrew Hare played great defense throughout the game which helped the team end with a conference win over Round Lake. The Sequoits ended the game with a score of 69-54.
