You’ve seen “Hannah Montana” Miley. You’ve seen “Can’t Be Tamed” Miley. You’ve seen foam finger/VMA Miley. But, unless you’ve been to a show on Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour, you have not seen anything yet. The music, the costume changes, the props, the dancing…Miley did it all. There was no boring part of the entire show that I was lucky enough to attend last night (March 9) at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Icona Pop, the Swedish duo who became famous after their song “I Love It,” opened for Miley. I was incredibly impressed with their performance. They sounded really good. Their outfits were very cute. They really enjoyed performing for us. I’d never heard any of their other music, but I still really enjoyed the songs they performed.

Icona Pop went on at 7 p.m. Miley Cyrus didn’t come out until after 8 p.m. That was probably the only part of the concert I didn’t like. I don’t know if it was on purpose, or if they were having problems backstage, but I was really anxious for Miley to come out.

The hour wait was completely forgotten once Miley finally arrived on stage. First her dancers, some dressed up in full body suits like monkeys, danced to the beginning of her song “Bangerz,” then the screen behind the stage with Miley’s face on it opened up and a tongue slide appeared. Miley slid down and began singing “Bangerz” and dancing along.

She performed every single song on her new album. She also performed her older songs “Can’t Be Tamed” and “Party in the USA.” She also went to a different stage on the other side of the floor and sang slower, more country-pop songs like “Jolene” originally performed by Dolly Parton. It was a really nice touch because she didn’t just sing her usual raunchy, high-energy songs. I was really pleased to see her slow it down a little bit and remind us that she’s still the same Miley that she has always been.

Miley and her background dancers had many outfit changes. The backups filled time while Miley was backstage changing with guitar and drum solo’s along with short clips of and about Miley on the big screen behind her. Every outfit was sparkly or had some kind of design on it. I couldn’t wait to see what she would come out in next.

Miley’s tongue slide wasn’t the only prop that she came out on. Miley’s golden car moved around on stage and she danced with a giant dog that had a light show projected onto it. Even better, she also rode on a giant hot dog. Let’s just say she had her fun.

Cyrus’s Bangerz tour wasn’t anything predictable. Every outfit change and every prop was a surprise. Every single second of the concert was exciting and energizing. There wasn’t a moment that I could even think about sitting down because my friends and I had so much fun dancing and singing along with her. This concert had the most energy and effort put into it out of any concert I’ve been too.

Whether you like Miley Cyrus or not, she put on one of the most amazing shows I have seen both vocally and visually. I would see her again in a second.
