On Thursday, August 31st, the Antioch boys varsity golf team went head-to-head against Grant Community High School at the Antioch Golf Course. The entire team was ready to try their best to shoot a low score and beat the Bulldogs at their home course.

“I’m feeling great,” junior Tony Sertic said. “It’s nice outside and I’m ready to play.”

Many of the athletes on the team were hoping to shoot in the mid 30s to low 40s. Also, a common goal among the team was to continue hitting their clubs straight and not have them push or pull to one side or the other.

“I need to improve on my irons,” junior Trevor Gregory said. “They are not very good right now. I am hitting them left a lot.”

The Sequoits ended pulling out a win against the Bulldogs with a score of 162-180 strokes. Some of the key players from the match included Alex Riedel and Tony Sertic who both ended the match with a score of 38. With another win in their back pocket, the team will continue push forward going into their next away match on September 5th against the Wauconda Bulldogs.
