On Thursday, April 7 Antioch Community High School, Lakes Community High School, Antioch Upper Grade School, Grant Middle School, Antioch Elementary School, B.J. Hooper Elementary School, Grass Lake School, Oakland Elementary, Olive C. Martin School, Thompson Elementary School and W.C. Petty Elementary School got together for a half hour to display the musical talent of the combined schools to all the friends and parents of the choirs. Community High School District 117 invited choir director, Zachary Durlam, PhD, the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee as the guest director.

These schools gathered in ACHS’s north gym and started out the night. The Treble Choir started the night by singing “Circle Round the Moon” by Mark Hierholzer, “Feed the Birds” arranged by Cristi Cary Miller and “Firefly” by Andy Beck.

Next was the Combined Choirs, who sang “Kyrie Eleison” by Antonio Lotti, “One Day More” arranged by Mark Brymer and “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Andy Beck.

The night was fun for all that came to watch, and is a tradition that D117 hopes to continue for many years to come.
