The lady Sequoits battled the full 60 minutes against the lady Eagles this past Wednesday, September 2. They battled hard, but in the end came up short with a 1-0 loss to Lakes.

With the first half of the game intense, the field hockey team found themselves trailing 1-0 going into halftime. They tried rallying for their hometown fans on the brand new turf, but that was not enough as 1-0, Lakes ended up being the final score.

“I am most excited for learning how to work together in order to win our games,” said four-year varsity player and captain Alexis Duehr. “This years team has a lot of experience. I am pretty sure there are 9-10 seniors, compared to last year that did not have many.”

The girls leave Friday for their annual St. Louis tournament and hope to put on a good showing.

Senior left/right midfield player Kaleigh Miller said, “[the tournament] let[s] us know what we need to work on, and make us eager to get that first win!”

The lady Sequoits have had a rough start to this season, also losing to Oak Park River Forest 4-0 today, but they are looking to turn things around with their Labor Day tournament in St. Louis.
