The JV Sequoit football team continues to follow in the footsteps of their varsity team with a 4-0 record. The JV team played Grant on Monday, September 18 and won 15-0.

The Sequoits had started out fast on the offensive end, scoring two touchdowns in the first half. According to sophomore Elkanah Gahima, the offense started to slow down during the second half of the game.

“I feel the game went really well but in some aspects we need to clean up our offense,” Gahima said. “The first half started off pretty well, we scored two touchdowns. But during the second half, the offense started slowing down.”

A few highlights from the game include the Sequoit defense shutting the Bulldogs down every time and not allowing them to score, as well as multiple sacks that led to turnovers for the Bulldogs.

Gahima has a positive outlook on the rest of the season.

“I know the rest of our season will turn out in our favor,” Gahima said. “Our coaches are helping us tremendously and we’re always getting better.”

Their next game is against Grayslake Central down at the stadium on September 23 for their homecoming game.
