Saturday, November 5, the Sequoit Varsity football team lost their first game of the season against the DeKalb Barbs. A loss is something this team, this season never experienced before.

The boys were outmatched for the first time all season, but their teamwork was as strong as ever. First quarter, there was a 21 yard field goal by senior Benjamin Gutke. Although the Sequoits didn’t score any more throughout the game, there was still very strong defense and a lot of tough plays.

Looking forward, there is optimism for next season to set an even higher bar that the incredible players put into place this season. Sophomore Cole Niemi agrees that this years football team set an incredibly high bar for other teams to come.

¨The performance of the seniors this year will be hard to beat next year,¨ Niemi said.

Teary eyed, the Sequoits concluded their impressive 10-1, season with a 3-36 loss. Despite their negative and upset feelings towards the defeat Saturday afternoon, the entire football team celebrated their season at the annual football award banquet. Saying goodbye, the Sequoits are upset by the loss of their senior players, but they will continue to work hard, and put even more effort into making next season an even better one.
