Girls Varsity basketball fell short of a win against Grayslake Central in the final seconds of the game last night, December 6. The girls fought hard to score 58 points against the Ram’s 60, with major points scored by seniors Amy Reiser, Ashley Reiser, Erika Gallimore and juniors Olivia Ori and Taylor Feltner.

After being down almost the entire first half, the Sequoits made a comeback keeping the game within two or three points during the fourth quarter. Even after both teams were put in double bonus, the game was highly energized. The game never lost its intensity as it came down to last second efforts to score. In the end, the Sequoits did not have enough time to make another basket and tie the game.

While the game did not go in the team’s favor, they are still optimistic about the rest of the season. Gallimore believes the team will not let this loss impact them in the long run.

“Our team is going to learn from this loss a lot,” Gallimore said. “This isn’t going to stop us at all. We are going to continue to work past this and continue onto our goal to state.”

Gallimore is confident that this loss will not do anything to harm their high hopes for the season.

“We are going to continue to win and make our goal a reality,” Gallimore said.
