Junior and Captain Monica Wilhelm breaks out the team at the beginning of their game on April 11.

The Sequoit Varsity soccer team suffered a tough loss against the Vernon Hills Cougars last night, April 11, losing 3-0. The first two goals were scored in the first half, the Cougars were finding the holes on the field and took a couple hard shots that went in the back of the net. The Sequoits had the energy and determination to win, but it wasn’t enough.

During the second half, Antioch put up a good fight only allowing the cougars to score one goal, which happened during a breakaway.

Sophomore Gabriella Michaels felt that the team just had an off game.

“We didn’t connect as many passes as we usually do, and we were not as confident as we normally are,” Michaels said.

Despite the rough game, Michaels is confident that they can come back and improve for their upcoming games.

“We just have to come out stronger, get a better first touch and communicate better as a team,” Michaels said.
