Girls Bowling Hits Big at Sectionals

A fourth place finish at sectionals sends girls bowling off to state.

On Saturday, February 10 the varsity bowling Sequoits approached sectionals with high hopes, sending them towards a team victory. Sectionals occurred at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights, Illinois alongside 11 other schools.

The girls competed against team groups as well as individual athletes. After the six games in the competition, the Sequoits’ six members competed to earn them the fourth place title in the sectional. During the game the girls rocked between ninth place, to sixth, then to fifth, and then wrapping up the day in the fourth and final spot to advance them.

The bowlers felt the heat in one of their best team scoring games against Fremd. The two teams were head to head, but the Sequoits pulled through and scored a 1057 series. This means every girl bowled over 200; a great achievement which without would’ve cost the ladies their fourth place finish.

On Thursday the girls will head to state to compete at Cherry Lanes in Rockford, Illinois. Of the 24 teams competing on Friday, only 12 will continue onto Saturday in which the girls hope to place well.
