The Antioch Community High School kicked off its last full week of school with an Honors Assembly on Monday, May 16, consisting of recognition towards numerous students on their academic achievements in and outside of school. The assembly displayed honor towards the students who have gone above and beyond the standard expectations of an average school participant.

“I felt like all my hard work was worth something…it was nice to be recognized,” junior Sommer Spencer said.

Various academic awards and scholarships were given out during the ceremony, however students were also acknowledged for their achievements in sports, fine arts, clubs and involvement within the community. Students like Spencer were appreciated for their behind-the-scene actions, and helped to promote motivation, persistence and strong work ethic through their public recognition.

The assembly was performed in front of the student body and faculty of Antioch Community High School along with parents and family of the awarded students, making a point to commend hard work and involvement among high school students.
