Sophomore Ashley Hoerning has played softball for eight years and has no plans of stopping. She has at least two years of playing left during high school, and possibly even college. This is the only sport Hoerning plays, so she is definitely committed and serious about softball.

Hoerning used to play third base, but now she just pitches and plays first base. She hopes to better herself in every way possible on the field.

She has played for many different teams, which shows she has a lot of different experience with softball. When Hoerning first started, she had played for Antioch Youth Little League for two years then went to Grayslake Pride for one year, the Richmond Rockets the year after that, then to Wisconsin Lightning for one year, then to her current team Antioch Adrenaline; where she has been playing for three years.

“I would like to improve on everything,” Hoerning said. “I want to get hits and get on base a lot more, but I want to improve my pitching the most.”

Junior Marisa Harris thinks very highly of her fellow teammate.

“Ashley is a teammate who doesn’t give up if something doesn’t go her way,” Harris said.  “When our team is down, she stays positive. She is the type of teammate that works hard for what she wants and helps others become a better player.”

Hoerning is looking forward to the rest of her sophomore season and the rest of her softball career.
