The JV wrestlers did their best while being the hosts of the tournament.

Over the weekend the Antioch JV wrestling team had hosted a tournament on December 17 and 18, where a few of the wrestlers placed at the end of the tournament. Junior Jackie Sistrunk and junior Blake Juszczyk placed first in the tournament for their weight class.

The team overall did not use their abilities to their full potential at this tournament but they played hard together. Even though it wasn’t their best, it is still early in the season and they have a lot of time to prove themselves as the season continues. Sophomore Brandon Pinto thinks that the team has a few areas where they can put their focus on in order to get better at practice.

“The team needs to work on conditioning and not putting themselves in bad positions, or knowing how to get out of those bad positions” Pinto said.

With the team knowing what they need to work on at practice, the team’s overall performance will improve.

“With our coaches pushing us more and more in our practice, we will only get better,” Pinto said.

The wrestling team’s next tournament is on December 22 and 23 at Harlem High School at 9:30am.
