Antioch vs. Lakes Football 9/11/15

The Antioch Sequoits varsity football team fought a tough battle against the Lakes Eagles, but fell short with a final score of 14-9.

Antioch Community High School’s varsity football team gave it their all against Lakes Community High School at Lakes on Friday, September 11, but unfortunately couldn’t quite bring home the team’s third win of the season. The Eagles dominated the first half with a halftime score of 14-3, but the Sequoits came back in the second half and held them there. But even with the second half shut-out, the Eagles still came out on top.

“Although we gave up a few key plays in the first half, defense really stepped up in the second half,” said defensive coach Mike Karner. “We just need to play that physical and at that level the full four quarters.”

Senior Nick Dorosan was named offensive player of the game this week, with 138 total rushing yards and 23 carries.

“We played our hearts out tonight,” Dorosan said. “We need to work on stopping the big plays, but I’m still proud of our defense’s performance and how we stepped up to the challenge.”

Although the team faced a tough loss against Lakes, they are looking to continue to work together as a team and use this to improve for the rest of the season.
