The winter season for sports is arriving fast and each team is preparing for their seasons mentally and physically. The girls bowling team is back and better than ever and the girls are excited to finally have a bowling alley back in their own town. The Antioch bowling alley has recently reopened and just in time for the girls bowling team to put it to good use.

Senior Samantha Knab and sophomore Lynn Michalec are both very excited to see what this season has to offer. Both of the returning players are excited about the Antioch bowling alley because it had drawn out a bigger crowd to the bowling meeting they had earlier this month.

Over the summer the girls had trained very hard to better themselves for this upcoming season.

“When I’m not bowling at the high school, I bowl at a Saturday morning youth league at Lakes Bowl,” Michalec said. “Also over the summer, I went to a bowling camp at Robert Morris College.”

Knab also spoke about her training in the offseason.

“Over the summer, I was in a national tournament, Junior Gold, and I did really well in it,” Knab said. “I also attended a college recruitment camp.”

Not only did the girls talk about how they trained, but also how they feel the season will go.

“I think this next season will start off a little bumpy with the newbies getting the hang of things, but I have high hopes overall,” Michalec said.

As all seasons start a little rough, it does not usually take long for everyone to get into the hang of things and when that happens that helps the team do better as a whole.

Wish the bowling team luck with their season and cheer them on at the Antioch bowling alley this winter.
