Remaking Horror Classics

Some of the most iconic and popular horror films are making a comeback in the next few years.

In recent years, old school scary films have begun to come back to life with remakes and continuations of the franchises. People are excited for the new releases of these films, but many also think the remakes are unnecessary because good classic films shouldn’t need to be fixed or remade.

1) “Blair Witch”

“Blair Witch,” filmed in 1999, was an iconic film at the time due to its unique filming style and methods. Horror fans were ecstatic about the new remake.

“A thrill ride that’s as terrifying as it is no-nonsense,” Rotten Tomatoes critic Barry Hertz said.

The “Blair Witch” remake has already been released in theatres. This classic film came back scarier than ever and is even more unforgettable than the first.

2) “Friday the 13th”

The franchise continues with yet another remake of the classic “Friday the 13th.” The new “Friday the 13th” remake is in progress, and according to Cinemablend, it is currently scheduled to come out on October 13th, 2017.

3) “Rings”

“Rings” is based off of the terrifying original film “The Ring.” Although “Rings” is not a complete remake of the original movie, it still contains the overall plot from the first movie, including the terrifying video tape that started it all.

“The original “The Ring” terrified me and I’m excited to see the new one, but it will be interesting to see if the new one does the original justice,” sophomore Aubrey Kay said.

“Rings” will be released in theatres on February 3rd, 2017.
