I am very particular about the food I eat. I know pizza is a staple of a teenage diet, but some places are just not that good. One day, I was with a couple of friends and they wanted to go to MOD Pizza in Gurnee . I was nervous because I did not know if I would like it.

Right when I walked into the restaurant it gave me such a fun and inviting vibe. The appearance of the restaurant caught my eye on how simple everything looked, nothing to flashy.

Once I found out I got to create my own pizza, I was intrigued. I was able to put my favorite meats and vegetables on it. By the time I was done getting my drink so was my pizza, fresh and fully cooked. I was so ready to just taste it, so I did and it was by far the best pizza I’ve ever had!

“At MOD pizza they let you put anything on your pizza that you desire,” sophomore Grace Acello said. “It is super yummy.”

I’ve never been inside a restaurant where the workers truly seem to love their job. All the employees there are so unique in the ways they dress, the color of their hair, the tattoos on their body and even their personalities. The workers at MOD Pizza make the environment so welcoming.

One thing that really caught my eye was the big collage of photos on the wall, some of them were gray. I wondered if the pictures meant anything. I learned that each gray photo means something important to MOD itself. In the Gurnee location there are three gray photos on the wall.

“This photo is about a pizza named after a girl, Maddy which is just red sauce and cheese,” MOD pizza employee Kaitlynn Portee said. “She actually had Leukemia and unfortunately passed away so the pizza is in honor of her and one dollar from ever Maddy purchase goes to the Leukemia foundation.”

Along with the Leukemia foundation they also help many other organizations. Another organization is The JED Foundation which is a nonprofit that helps prevent suicide.

Even if you are feeling unsure about eating somewhere new you should just try MOD pizza anyways because it may very well be the best thing you have ever eaten. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are searching for your very own personalized pizza that tastes incredibly good.
