The Antioch Sequoits boys soccer team kicked off their 2016 campaign on Monday, August 22 against Crystal Lake Central at home. Antioch was losing 2-1 as they brought the game down to the wire while carrying momentum from three clutch saves by Senior goalie, Alex Ruano; but failed to tie the game in the final minutes. Although it is just the first match of the long season for the boys, they are still disappointed after losing, as expressed by Junior Bart Krumpos.

“I hope we can contest for the conference championship, but I think it is too soon to tell” said Krumpos.

Hopefully the past success from the former North Suburban Conference for the Sequoit Varsity soccer team will carry over into the new Northern Lake County Conference as the Sequoits will be competing for the conference championship on a yearly basis behind the strong and enthusiastic Coach Polakow.

Ultimately only time will tell how the Varsity soccer team will do this year, but if the trend continues, watch for these boys to make an impact come October and the postseason.
