Rydell High Comes to Antioch High

Antioch High School Fine Arts department puts on the spring musical production of Grease this weekend.

Nobody loves summer more than the kids at Rydell High, but this year Sandy, Danny and the gang come to Antioch Community High School in the school production of “Grease.”

Directed by Wanda Teddy, Michael Riggs, Trey Hickey, Kelly Taylor and Patrick Johnson,  the “Grease” cast has been preparing for months and puts on a special show for the senior center on Wednesday, Apr. 19. The production prides itself in being an outlet for the entire community to come together, whether that be the population of ACHS or Antioch and surrounding towns. The cast hosted local middle schools for a showing, bringing a little bit of Rydel high and introducing them to one avenue of the fine arts in high school.

“It’s what we have been working hard towards for the past months and it’s fun to be able to showcase the hard work everyone put in and the talent everyone has,” senior Morgan Balleza said.

The cast of “Grease” is filled with kids from every avenue of life, involvement and skill level. The lead roles of Danny and Sandy will be portrayed by juniors Jessica Lamberty and RJ Vazquez. The spring musical is a time where the entire high school comes together to produce and participate. The musical attracts athletes, choir kids, and everyone in between.

“Over the past few days we have really come together as a group and with that it encourages us to be better and do our best for everyone else in the cast. I am super proud of how far this cast has come,” senior Brooke Menzies said.

Come out to Antioch Community High School and see “Grease: the Musical” this weekend on one of their three remaining dates: April 21 and April 22 at 7 p.m and on April 23 at 2 p.m.
