Tuesday, May 2, the softball team won against the Grant Bulldogs 10-5. Sophomore Avery Malicki had two home runs to help the team win against one of the leading teams in the conference.

“The first inning was a big part of the way we played,” Malicki said. “Scoring six in the first [inning] is a huge momentum booster. The fact that we were able to beat a good team in the conference is a good sign towards how the remainder of the season will go.”

The conference championship games will be coming up in the near future and the girls are excited for what is to come next. The team is ranked number six in the state for the 3A division with a record of 16-4, and hopes to make a long run in the playoffs.

The girls will be playing another conference game tonight, May 4, against Grayslake Central.
