This winter, a group of students and staff came together to start Antioch Community High School’s first ever, Sequoit Wellness Challenge.

“It’s that time of year again. With the snow and cold, everyone is getting stuck inside,” said Barbara Mason, one of the founders of the Wellness Challenge. “With that idea in mind, we thought how cool it would be if we could encourage students and staff to broaden their physical activities and hobbies.”

The Sequoit Wellness Challenge supports wellness among students and staff. This six-week competition focuses on balancing four areas of wellness: physical, social, spiritual and intellectual.

Members of students, staff or a combination of the two can participate in the challenge either individually or on a team which can have up to four members. Participants can earn up to four daily points in any area of the four categories of wellness. A maximum of one point can be can be achieved that day in each category, along with bonus points available to earn.

Each participant will be responsible for recording their own points on a weekly online basis. Scorecards must be submitted no later than three thirty p.m., on Mondays, to count towards the previous week’s total. As points are earned throughout the six weeks, prizes will be rewarded to those who work hard and a grand prize will be given to the team or individual who has received the most points.

Registration for teams is available in the commons Feb. 2 thru 6 and also on the Sequoit Wellness website. The challenge will begin on Monday, Feb. 9.
