Poor Weather Causes Softball Postponements

The Sequoit softball players faced a depressing number of game cancellations this spring due to weather that feels more like winter. It’s not uncommon for the spring sports to reschedule games early in the season because the fields aren’t quite ready, but this year especially, posed a challenge because of the extreme cold in February and March.

Snow that has so far refused to completely melt is still sitting atop the fields, forcing the softball team to move several of their initial games into the future. ACHS junior and varsity softball player, Hannah Skoog, shared her thoughts on the new schedule.

“I think we are all so used to having these postponements that they don’t really worry any of us. Not only does it give us more time to prepare for the season, but it’s kind of nice getting to play a game almost every day of the week (because the schedule is then so packed). No matter the conditions, our team just loves playing softball and I can feel that this will be a great season,” said Skoog.

The updated schedule from March 29 to April 5 can be seen below; past April 5, the game schedule remains unchanged. Bolded games are new additions to the game schedule because of postponements. Make sure to check the Sequoits Athletic webpage for continuously updated game results and softball news.
