The Sequoits win yet another football game, beating Grayslake Central on September 22 for their homecoming game. After shutting out Grant 42-0, the Sequoits were able to win big against the Rams 55-13.

The Sequoits started the game off slowly, letting the Rams score a touchdown within minutes of the start of the first quarter. Going into the second quarter, the Sequoits were down 7-0. At the start of the second quarter senior quarterback Branden Gallimore ran the Sequoits their first touchdown, tying up the game at 7-7 with 11 minutes left in the first half.

Senior Hunter Price scored three touchdowns and junior Ben Nauman scored one in the first half which helped the Sequoits gain a big lead before halftime came around.

A highlight play of the night was a pass from Gallimore to senior Steven Baum who scored a touchdown with 3.3 seconds left in the second quarter. This allowed the Sequoits to lead the Rams with a score of 41-7 going into halftime.

According to junior Braden Buehlman, the team worked hard and fought during every second of the game.

“Our whole team played as a unit and came together strong in the second half, ending the final seconds of the game just as fast as we started,” Buehlman said. “We’re going to keep working hard for the next couple weeks in preparation for playoffs.”

In the last quarter of the game, newcomer and sophomore Brandon Reynolds scored his first varsity touchdown and brought the Sequoits to a score of 55-13 to end the game.

The next game for the Sequoits is Thursday September 28 against Round Lake at home.
