    Moment 1: Varsity Volleyball

Ending the conference season with a 4-0 record, girls volleyball headed down to participate in the IHSA Regionals. Making it that far is a huge accomplishment for the team, but to reflect on a specific moment of their season, coach Jamie Atkinson chose senior night as the highlight of the season.

“After a loss in the first game against Grayslake North, we came back and took care of business,” Atkinson said.

During senior night, junior Katherine Barr ran off of junior Kennedy Moll for an amazing play. Starting the game by being down by nine points, the girls scored multiple times to make it only a two lead by Grayslake North in the first game.

    Moment 2: Varsity Tennis

After finishing out their amazing season  8-3-1 with very difficult opponents, the girls Varsity tennis team sent four of their players to compete in the state tennis tournament, one being junior Kelsey Neville.

Kelsey Neville‘s fourth place finish in the state tennis tournament is certainly the most memorable for me,” coach Jamie D’Andrea said. “It was just an awesome experience.”

Being that it’s the first time any tennis player has made it to state, making it there is a great way to recap the season.

    Moment 3: Field Hockey

Throughout the entirety of the field hockey season, the girls played difficult opponents with a few intense losses, but overall, they came out successful. Coach Terry Dewing put emphasis on the team’s defense for the reason why the team had such a successful season.

“[Goalie] Rebekah Cartlidge is an amazing player, and her leadership in the circle helped a lot,” Dewing said.

There were a lot of tough games played, but the one that stood out was the Lake Forest High School game. It was 1-0 at the halftime, making it a tense game. However, the girls didn’t feel defeated as Lake Forest was seeded No. 1 in the state, and they came out of the season on a positive note.

    Moment 4: Girls Cross Country

This weekend, the cross country team will be heading to Sectionals. Even though the season is ending, assistant coach Ryan Hlinak reflected back on the greatest accomplishment for the female runners this season.

“We won third place overall out of 18 schools,” Hlinak said. “The whole team ran really well this season. [Natalie] Hill and [Tiana] Fox were not anywhere near where they were at the beginning of the season, and were constantly dropping their times.”

While attending the Charger Classic invite, sophomore Natalie Hill won second place out of 107, and freshman Tiana Fox and senior Rylie Mercer took eighth and ninth, making it Hlinak’s favorite accomplishment this season.
