Although the trip is not yet approved by the school board, students hope to travel to Italy in the spring of 2016.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, Antioch Community High School students met with social studies teacher Stephen Rose to discuss travel opportunities.

Junior Ashley Hare said, “Mr. Rose sent out an email about a meeting that students could go to and plan where the trip was going to be. I already had Italy in mind so when we decided on it, I was positive I wanted to go!”

It was agreed that the next travel opportunity for students will be a trip to Italy. The trip has not yet been approved by the school board, but it is planned for the spring of 2016.

Junior Meghan Petrowski said, “The trips are a part of ACHS International Travel. Not really a club, but anyone can sign up for trips that are eligible.”

There is only room for 42 students, and freshman, sophomores and juniors are eligible for the tour of Italy. The parent meeting is currently scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29, where one of two tours will be chosen.

The first tour is offered by Education First and runs from nine to 11 days. The nine day package tours Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome. Adding two days extends the trip to 11 days, making it possible to tour Pompeii and Capri.

The second tour is offered by Explorica, and runs from eight to 10 days. The eight day package tours Venice, Florence and Rome, while the 10 day package adds the opportunity to tour Sorrento. Both tours offer hotels with private bathrooms, full European breakfast and dinner daily and round-trip airfare.
