Baseball is a game of patience and perfection, but for junior Colin Wieska, baseball is a way of life. Wieska has been playing t-ball since he was four years old for the Antioch Youth Little League (AYLL).

“When I was little I was one of the worst players,” Wieska said. “Starting so young definitely has helped improved my game over the years.”

What comes with improvement is hard work. Since a very young age, Wieska played baseball year round, working to perfect his game. From playing in house baseball for the AYLL to traveling across the country with the Antioch Youth Travel team, and now playing for the high school, Wieska has improved his game drastically.

“My dad has helped my game more than anything,” Wieska said. “He’s pushed me to be my best from when I started playing baseball until now.”

From state to state, Wieska has traveled with his team to play tournaments. Whether it was losing a heartbreaker in a tournament at the University of Michigan or winning a big time tournament in Milwaukee, Wieska’s love for the game has never faded.

“My favorite memory was playing in Cooperstown, New York,” Wieska said. “Playing in a tournament with over a 100 teams from different countries was a cool experience, I’ll never forget beating a team from California.”
