What Sharing A Room With My Sister Is Like

Sharing a room with my older sister is interesting to say the least neither of us are perfect but we make a pretty good duo.

Sharing a room with my sister is difficult sometimes, but at the end of the day she’s my best friend and I wouldn’t change a thing about her.

I frequently get asked  what it is like sharing a room with my sister. Most of the time it’s really not that bad, since it’s been like that my whole life. Every time I respond saying that, people comment on how they would hate having to share a room with their own sibling. Believe me, I know.

I normally say there are a lot worse people I could be sharing a room with. By no means is the situation luxurious with my sister, Maggie.

Maggie can forgetful and snappy at times. There are a lot of little arguments that go on and sometimes it can be awkward when you’re sitting on beds that are right next to each other.

There have been multiple events where one of us has threatened to move out or attempted to sleep in the basement, but ultimately caved because it’s scary being alone.

The good thing is the arguments blow over quickly. One of us either does something stupid, we take a nap, get some food, crack a joke or the silence just gets awkward and we then feel forced to talk to one another.

The truth is, having your best friend as a roommate is infuriating at times, but also I have made some of the best memories sharing a room with her, which is something I would never change.

We are pretty much natural opposites; Maggie likes the room clean and neat, however while the room is clean she often forgets what is going on in the real world. I prefer the room a little messy but I am constantly aware of my schedule and always concerned with what is going on in the now.

We balance each other out. I always have someone to talk to and I never feel left out or alone. I know for a fact that the relationship we have is so strong because we have always shared a room. From sharing a room I know someone will always be in my life for the good and the bad; from sharing a room I’ve met my best friend and I know I’ll miss sharing a tiny room when she goes off to college
