Senior Patrick Schoenfelder prepares for his match against Round Lake on January 9. Schoenfelder went on to win the match, adding to the overall team win.

After months of hard work, the long practices are finally starting to pay off, Antioch wrestling won their meet against Round Lake High School. The final score was 46-13, an outstanding victory for the Sequoits. The Sequoit wrestlers are putting their all into this season, their goals are the same as before, working to become the best of the best and win it all; a state championship.

“My goals are the same as every other year,” head coach Wilbur Borrero said. “My top priority is to make every wrestler great and help them reach their full potential.”

The team is doing well as a whole and only has room for improvement. Their final goal is state, but the team is focusing on regionals first. Borrero shares these goals and hopes to help the team reach them.

“Whether it is a individual state championship, a state placement, a sectional placement, or just winning their next match,” Borrero said. “Each wrestler has a different goal for themselves and I am going to help them reach it.”
