On Saturday September 23, the boys cross country team took first and third place in the Harvest Christian Academy Invitational. Sophomore Josh Linck, got first overall and lead the freshmen and sophomore boys to first place as a team. The varsity boys took 3rd place as a team, led by sophomore Charlie Smith who got 2nd overall. The heat played a factor in Saturday’s race and affected the pace and speed of all the runners.

“[The heat] was so much harder to run in, it was hard to keep running,” sophomore Alex Barbarise said.

Despite the heat, the freshman and sophomore boys team started off slowly and stayed as a team until Linck pulled away and won by 20 seconds, leading the team to their victory.

The varsity race contained a hard race for first between Charlie Smith and many other great runners not only from other teams, but also his own. The Antioch varsity boys came up short and got 3rd place overall.

The varsity boys hope to improve their times and win their next race against Grayslake Central on Tuesday, September 26.
